Relatives G

Alright, so this isn't in my 'Memories' series, but I thought I'd just talk about it because I can.

So, my family history on my mother's side disappears after a few generations. No names, no nothing. It's like we don't exist ((maybe we're just aliens from Saturn or something...)) but after that point, there are many possibilities as to our relatives.

You see, my grandmother's maiden name is Jackson. And there is a very high possibility that I am, in fact, related to Michael Jackson. Then, my mother's maiden name is Swift, and there is a slight chance that I am related to Taylor Swift ((though not as likely as Michael...)). And the other major one is Elvis Presley, apparently ((somewhere in the family tree)) we were Presleys but we can't find any documents on whether or not we actually ARE related to him. ((Of course, if we are, we could also be related to Oprah because Oprah may be related to Elvis...*shrugs*))

See, like I said earlier: we have no family history. It's all gone. Don't suggest one of those websites or genealogy places, they don't have anything. It's like we don't exist.

Well, that's about all.

Thank you for the music MJ,

Memories and Visits G

((Once again, continuation of my 'Memories' series))

When I was little, my grandparents lived 3 days away ((by car)) so we'd visit when we could. Now, there are several visits I remember, but I'll focus on ONE today.

I was really little and my grandpa decided to take us to visit Uncle...Henry...Harvey...Harold...it stated with an 'H'...anyways...so I went with him and my mom.

I don't really remember Uncle What-sis-face, but I remember his house. It had a light brownish shag carpet that I spent the vast majority of my visit sitting on. The house smelled weird. A combination of cigarettes, dust, and old.

Yes, old has a smell. You know, that smell that always seems to be in old people's houses, nursing homes, and old buildings, that's what 'old' smells like.

I also remember light colored paint on the walls, and it was really sunny. That's pretty much all I remember.

AND AN ADDITION THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT! I've been listening to show tunes. My current show tunes are:
  • 'I Cain't Say No' (Oklahoma)
  • 'Maybe This Time' (Cabaret)
  • 'Money, Money' (Cabaret)
  • 'What I Did For Love' (A Chorus Line)
  • 'Don't Cry for Me Argentina' (Evita)
  • 'Be Italian' (Nine)
Ironically, I've never seen any of those musicals...but I love the music from Cabaret, especially the versions with Liza Minelli. XD

Memories and Last Days of School

As a continuation of my 'Memories' I thought I'd say the little I know about my last day of school each year.

Crying.

There, that is all I have to say.

Not 7th or 8th grade, but every other year, I've cried. This year was pretty bad. Alright, it was the worst. I was pretty much a wreck, but whatever.

I have no more to say on the matter,

Memories and Reading G (Unless you find the accomplishments of others derogatory)

So, I just finished one of the saddest books I've ever read, it's getting to be the end of the year, and all I can think about are memories. So, I've decided to share my own with you. Not all at once, just a few at a time. These are the topics I'll be covering over the next few months:
  • Holidays
  • Jewelry
  • Events
  • Friends
Today I think I'll talk about an Event. The event being the first time I ever read a book all on my own. I was about four, maybe five, it was summer, the humidity was smothering, I was at my grandparents in Illinois.

It was later in the evening, we had had our dinner (mashed potatoes and butter sandwiches being my staple) and I was looking at the books in the little bookshelf in the half-room that once belonged to my uncle. There was the one my grandma read to me every night before I went to bed: There's a Nightmare in My Closet, but there were other books, books whose titles I didn't know because the lettering was strange.

So, I skimmed them lightly with my forefinger, gently looking them over as if, by touching them, they would explode and die. As always, I was going to pick out my 'bedtime story' (which, on any other day would've been There's a Nightmare in My Closet, but I had spent the entire day watching my family read, or hearing them talk about reading) I wanted to try reading by myself. As any other little child I knew a few words: my name, the letters in the alphabet ((which is a story for another day)), lion, king, blues, clues, mermaid, seven, dwarfs, and any word that was in There's a Nightmare in My Closet.

After looking over the covers for what must have been 10 minutes, I picked a thick book, it was an old book, with brown leather binding. Instead of running to Grandma or Grandpa to have it read to me, I sat down in my other uncle's former room at the foot of the bed and started decoding the strange symbols I was assured were words.

I must have spent hours there, but I came into my grandparents family room, and very loudly exclaimed (over the rumble of the CNN news) that I could read. As though I were a god, I pulled the book out (standing in front of the TV to attract attention as I always did when I wanted everything to be about me) and started reading. The story was something about two siblings (brother and sister) who went to the zoo and saw a rhinoceros, a hippopotamus, and an elephant (to this day I still can't spell rhinoceros or hippopotamus without spell check).

Of course, being so little, no one believe I was actually reading, just making up a story. Indignantly, I sat on Grandpa's lap while he read over my shoulder as I read (for the second time) the story of the two children.

After receiving my round of applause, I sat down (still in front of the TV) and started reading more stories in the thickset book.

Now, as amazing as that sounds, try this on for size, by the time I graduated second grade, I had an eleventh grade reading level. I kid you not. I was just simply that wonderful.

Memories are pressed between the pages of my mind,

Nà shi jīng qí. PG (Unless you speak Asian languages very fluently)

Really, quite the surprise. I received 3 awards earlier tonight: Citizenship Honor Award, Academic Honor Award, and World Language Honor Award.

Now I know there is one person who will be a pompous S.O.B. because 'he did better than I did'. Well, how many languages do you speak, hùnqiú? That's what I thought. You see, I just insulted you in Mandarin Chinese, and I'll bet you won't know this one either: nǐ suàn lǎo jǐ le

That's right, nǐ hùnqiú, I insulted you not once, not twice, but three times in a foreign language. And just to make it better: Bub-a-kuk-a.

That was in two languages. So, I have insulted you in 3 languages, 4 times. HAH!

Anyways. That was kinda fun...2 weeks left.

Zai Jian!

Thank Athena! PG

I finished my 150 Greek mythology cards, and I think I died somewhere while doing them. Really, it's like half of my life is in those cards. Oh, well, I'm handing them in, and winging the test.
BTW, check out my song for the moment, I'll change it whenever I feel motivated...
Thank Athena!

P.S. You may be wondering, 'Why not thank Zeus? He is king of gods...'. Well, the answer is, he's a man whore, and a total jerk. Athena was cool...ish though.
